Bibliography Index

This bibliography catalogues and indexes publications about Sussex from over 6,500 authors who have written over 9,000 books, pamphlets and digital media and over 13,500 articles in listed journals or available online. Each entry includes the title of the work, author(s), date of publication, publishing organisation, volume(s) & page(s) and the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) or International Serial Number (ISSN). Where the entry can be accessed at Sussex libraries or Record offices it is annotated with online links. If the work is online the entry is annotated Online and if the work can be downloaded in PDF format the entry is annotated Download PDF. An abstract, summary or précis of the work is added when available as are published reviews.
Each work is indexed by subject, place, people, publisher, society and author and also by University if it is a thesis.

Please note that the Bibliography does not include publications that are generic to England or Great Britain unless they add unique Sussex records or data. Private papers, creative writing (novels, poetry, etc.), newspaper articles, maps, statistical tables and timetables are not included. Central and local government administrative, legal and planning documents and government statutes are not included unless of specific historical interest.

Publications for villages and towns that are on the border of Kent, Surrey and Hampshire are included if they had a close relationship with particular Sussex places (e.g. Emsworth, Groombridge, Lamberhurst, Romney Marsh). A bibliography for Tunbridge Wells is included but limited to Sussex related matters
